Terms and conditions
Last updated: 18 October 2026
These terms explain how AbleVan works and govern your use of this website and of our service. Please read them before you accept an offer. If anything is unclear, email us at info@ablevan.com.
1. Who provides the service
AbleVan is run by David, in Madrid, Spain. You can contact us at info@ablevan.com. Our other legal details are in the legal notice.
2. What AbleVan does, and what it doesn't
AbleVan helps people travelling to Spain find a wheelchair accessible van that suits their needs. We start with Madrid and Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport, and for other destinations we'll tell you whether we can help.
We take your request, check availability with vehicle rental companies, confirm with them that the vehicle works for your wheelchair and your group, and send you an offer.
- We don't own any vehicles. The van is provided by the rental company named in the offer.
- We only arrange the van hire. We don't combine it with accommodation, transfers or other travel services.
3. How requests work
- Sending a request is free and doesn't commit you to anything.
- We reply by email within 24 hours, in English or Spanish.
- If we need more information, such as your wheelchair's measurements, we'll ask before we carry on searching.
- We may not be able to find a suitable van for your dates or destination. If so, we'll tell you.
4. Request, offer and booking: three different things
- Request. What you send us through the form. It isn't a booking and doesn't guarantee availability.
- Offer. The proposal we email you. It sets out the specific vehicle and its confirmed features, the rental company, the total price including taxes, what's included, the deposit, the cancellation terms and how long the offer is valid for.
- Confirmed booking. This only exists once you accept the offer and the rental company confirms availability in writing. We email you that confirmation. Until then, nothing is booked.
5. How we check the vehicle
Before we send you an offer, we confirm with the rental company the points that matter most when travelling in a wheelchair: ramp access, door height and width, interior space, wheelchair places, the restraint system and luggage space.
That information comes from the rental company. We check it carefully and pass it on to you exactly as they confirm it. The features that apply are the ones stated in the offer.
Our check depends on what you tell us, so please make sure your wheelchair's measurements and weight are accurate. With the wrong figures, a van that looks suitable may not be.
6. Our relationship with rental companies
- The van hire is governed by the rental company's terms, which we send you before you accept the offer.
- Driver requirements, such as minimum age, driving licence or a card for the deposit, are set by the rental company. We include them in the offer.
7. Who is responsible for what
- AbleVan is responsible for providing its service with due care: handling your request, checking the points in section 5 with the rental company and passing the information on to you accurately.
- The rental company is responsible for the vehicle, its condition and the hire itself, under its contract and the law.
- You are responsible for making sure the information you give us is correct.
Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights as a consumer.
8. Price, payment, cancellation and complaints
Price. Sending a request costs nothing. The total price, including taxes, is shown in the offer before you accept it.
Payment. You don't pay anything until you accept an offer. The offer sets out who takes payment, when, and by which methods.
Cancellation. Cancellation terms for the van hire are the rental company's, and they're set out in the offer before you accept it.
Right of withdrawal. Under Spanish consumer law (Article 103 of the consolidated General Law for the Protection of Consumers and Users), there is no right of withdrawal for vehicle hire contracts with a specific date or period. This doesn't affect the cancellation terms set out in the offer.
Complaints. If something has gone wrong, email us at info@ablevan.com. We'll reply as soon as we can. You can also contact the consumer authorities in Spain or, if you live in another EU country, the European Consumer Centres Network.
9. Using the website properly
- Use the website to ask for genuine quotes. Don't send false requests, requests in someone else's name without their permission, or unlawful or offensive content.
- We may decline to handle requests that appear fraudulent, automated or abusive.
- Don't try to damage the website or access it without authorisation.
10. Your personal data
How we handle your data is explained in our privacy information.
11. Intellectual property
The text, design, the AbleVan name and logo belong to the owner of AbleVan or are used with permission. You're welcome to read them and share links to this website, but please don't copy or reuse them commercially without permission. The Lexend typeface is used under the SIL Open Font License.
12. Governing law and disputes
- These terms are governed by Spanish law.
- If you're a consumer living in another country, you keep the protection given to you by the mandatory laws of your country of residence.
- Nothing in these terms requires you to bring a claim in any court other than the ones available to you by law as a consumer.
- These terms are available in English and Spanish with the same content. If the two versions ever differ, the Spanish version prevails; even so, any doubt about their meaning is resolved in the consumer's favour.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Each booking is governed by the version in force when you accept the offer. The date of the last update is shown at the top of this page.
